What Happens When You Text Your Mom About PR?

By Michelle Favalora

The Hoffman Agency, San Jose

To celebrate Mother’s Day, we decided to put our Hoffman moms up to a challenge – not unlike every other day of the year (thanks, Mom!).

Anticipating failure, we set out to see how they would answer the following question: “What do you think I do in PR?”

Yet, our moms (and wives) defied our doubts, rising to the challenge and expertly responding with accuracy and wit.

Let’s take a look at what our experts had to say.

What is public relations

Right on! We do wear a lot of hats in PR. From coordinating with media to writing content, every day is different here at Hoffman. But one thing’s for sure – we certainly focus on promoting our clients in the best light possible.

Right, again! Well, kind of. While we don’t believe in “spin,” PR pros do sift through a company’s messaging to find the most compelling stories to share. We know we’ve hit the jackpot when we find a story that evokes emotion.

 What is public relations

Indeed! PR may not stand for “policing relationships,” but it is our job to make sure our clients are meeting with the right people at the right time – noisy siren optional.

As PR professionals, we pride ourselves in being relevant and creative. Yet, maybe the apple doesn’t fall too far from the tree.

Mom – I’m sorry for ever doubting you 🙂

Happy Mother’s Day, all!
